The Iowa State University Dairy/Animal Science Education and Discovery Facility supports teaching, research, and outreach activities through the University in Ames, Iowa. The 20,000-square-foot building supports various learning opportunities for students to interact with up to 450 milk cows. The project included the construction of myriad spaces, including milking management and animal housing barns, teaching and visitor facilities, feed preparation and storage buildings, and manure handling systems.

The dairy housing system on this farm resembles the standard system used in the dairy industry and utilizes the most current technology available.

The complex is located on a 600-acre farm, situated just south of Ames. The site acts as the southern anchor to the corridor of land occupied by the College of Agriculture’s livestock teaching and research facilities south of Ames.
