OPN Wins at Corridor Canstruction 2014

Hot off the heels of the OPN Des Moines Canstruction win, OPN Cedar Rapids took the title of “Jurors’ Favorite” at the 2014 Corridor Canstruction! Canstruction is an annual competition between architects, engineers, contractors, and designers to design and construct amazing, enormous structures using only cans and packaged food. The event was held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Coral Ridge Mall. At the close of the competition, all of the structures will be dismantled and the food will be donated to the Eastern Iowa Food Bank.

OPN’s winning entry titled “CANterpillar – Bulldozing Hunger” featured a large Caterpillar bulldozer. The structure showcased slick mac’n’cheese wheels, blinding mayonnaise headlights, and a state-of-the-art popcorn steering wheel. The build is valued at $1,000 and featured more than 1,100 food items.

“CANterpillar – Bulldozing Hunger” will be available for viewing at Coral Ridge Mall through Sunday, May 4. Stop by and check out this masterpiece…the resemblance between the build and a Caterpillar bulldozer is unCANny!
