OPN Wins at Central Iowa Canstruction 2014

For the second year in a row, OPN’s Des Moines office won the award for “Jurors’ Favorite’ at the 2014 Central Iowa Canstruction. Canstruction is an annual competition between Architecture and Engineering firms to design and construct fantastic, giant-sized structures made entirely out of  cans and packaged food. The event was held at the Science Center of Iowa on Saturday, March 29, 2014. At the close of the competition, all of the structures are dismantled and the food is donated to the Food Bank of Iowa to benefit families throughout central Iowa.

OPN’s winning entry entitled “She ‘Food’ Drives a Duesenberg” showcased a 1920’s era Duesenberg automobile complete with stove-top popcorn steering wheel, coffee can headlamps, and an intricate hood ornament made from steak sauce bottles. The build consists of over 1,600 food items and is valued at $1,700.
