OPN-Designed Pizzeria to Open in Madison

Capitol Square will welcome a new restaurant this fall. Joshua Berkson and Patrick Sweeney, co-owners of Merchant, a gastropub and liquor store in downtown Madison, hired OPN Architects to design a pizzeria at 101 King Street. The pizzeria, named Lucille, will be comprised of three levels and will seat between 150 and 175 people. A large artisanal Neapolitan dome pizza oven and a wrap-around bar will be situated in the center of the first floor, and a mezzanine area with seating and a booth for a live DJ will overlook the triangular-shaped bar on the second floor.

“OPN Architects is thrilled to be a part of this project,” says Wesley Reynolds, Principal of OPN’s Madison studio. “The project will transform an existing office building, owned by Urban Land Interests, into a culinary and cultural destination on King Street and the Capitol Square. We can’t wait to share more information about the overall vision as more imagery will be coming soon.”
