OPN Welcomes Allen to Leadership Team

OPN Architects is pleased to announce the promotion of Scott C. Allen, AIA, to Associate. Scott joined the firm’s Des Moines’ studio as a project manager in 2013.

Specializing in historical restoration, he has worked on notable projects including the Iowa State Capitol, Terrace Hill Iowa Governor’s Mansion, The World Food Prize, Spaulding Center for Transportation and Morrill Hall at Iowa State University. Prior to joining OPN, Scott was a partner at another Des Moines firm where he was the Restoration Focus Market Leader for the Restoration Studio. He is active in the historic preservation community serving as historical architect for the City of Des Moines’ Urban Design Review Board; on the Landmark Review Board for Des Moines; and as a volunteer for the Historic Site Preservation Grant Program.

“Scott’s passion for Iowa’s historic architecture and his understanding of past building technologies has made him uniquely qualified to lead many of our most sensitive restoration and rehabilitation projects,” said Des Moines Principal Rick Seely. “His expertise has repeatedly proven invaluable to our clients and the success of their projects.  His specialized knowledge has, without doubt, been key to protecting many of our state’s most treasured structures.”

A graduate of the Iowa State University architecture school, Scott is originally from Mason City and Charles City, Iowa and graduated from Charles City High School.
