OPN Architects is growing. More than 20 new employees and summer interns will join us over the next three months. This week we welcome: Brett Virgl and Hillary Byrne.
Brett Virgl joins OPN as an intern architect in the Cedar Rapids studio. A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Brett has worked on projects ranging from education and public works to healthcare and museums. His passion for architectural visualization has led him to become excellent at communicating design intent in the virtual world. Outside of architecture, Brett enjoys teaching and practicing the art of Origami, graphic design, and traveling. He previously interned with DLR and HDR in Omaha.
Hillary Byrne is an intern architect in OPN’s Madison studio. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, Hillary spent her final semester reimagining Washington Park, an impoverished neighborhood in Milwaukee, for her Master’s Thesis. With this project she was able to focus on her interests in adaptive reuse. She studied vacancies of a range of small to large scale buildings, in order to promote walkability, adaptability, and enriching the experience of residents. She is originally from Madison, Wisconsin and has interned with OPN twice in summer and winter of 2015. She spends any spare time at her horse’s barn and competing within the Midwest for show jumping.
