CoOportunity Health serves as a health insurance CO-OP, providing affordable health insurance options for individuals and small businesses, under the new Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. As a member-owned non-profit, this organization works toward linking individuals with the emerging choices in the healthcare marketplace. As the firm chosen to provide tenant improvements, it was important to maintain the spirit of individuals reaching out to others. In keeping with the mission statement of the Co-Op’s low administrative overhead to provide cost-efficient health insurance solutions, the project scope itself was maintained within a responsible budget to better align with the values of a member-run non-profit.
Due to a modest budget, it was necessary to work within the existing space parameters and develop new architectural insertions at strategic locations throughout the plan to transform the perception of the office space. These spaces were then linked to create a cohesive whole. A key component of the space belongs to the entrance where visitors are greeted by a feature wall of horizontal Poplar wood slats with slices of colored accents interspersed throughout. These core colors form the basis of CoOportunity’s visual identity and link the helping hand of the Co-Op to its members.
